An Honor!

Associate Pastor Fr. Fidelis Igwenwanne, his Bishop Michael Odogwu Elue from Nigeria, Visiting priest from Nigerian, Fr. Anthony Ibe from a different Nigerian diocese, and Our Lady of the Lake Pastor Fr. Michael Deptula.

Well, you know for some that in the past months and years I have always serve on the alter of Our Lady of the Lake in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I usually serve for like all the special or holiday mass, but I also do the Bishop's mass. Well tonight I just finished up with another Bishop's mass, but this time it was with an out of country Bishop.

I would like to WELCOME! Bishop Michael Odogwu Elue from Nigeria to Lake Havasu City. He's visiting our town and church because Fr. Fidelis Igwenwanne our Associate Pastor is assigened to our parish.

Brief Profile of Bishop Michael Odogwu Elue:

Born on April 4th, 1956 into a Catholic family of Mr. Dominic Elue and Mrs. Theresa Elue of Akumazi Umuocha in Ika Northeast Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. The first son but the second child in a large family of eight children, his father died on August 18th, 1984, the very day he was ordained to the Catholic priesthood, but his mother is alive and active in their local parish.

Bishop Odogwu as he is fondly called is a known quality. He is a man of high intelligence, hilarious humor, and over and above all, a man of profound fiath and love in God. No wonder his nomination as the Bishop of Issele-Uku diocese, Nigeria by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II on 9th of December, 2003 didn't come altogether as a surprise even though he was not among the rank of the so called episcopal candidates ('episcopables') aspiring to the post. Before his episcopal ordination as the third bishop of Issele-Uku diocese, on February 21st, 2004, Bishop Odogwu held many pastoral and academic assignments of responsibility. Prominent among them were as Professor at All Saints Major Seminary Ekpoma, Nigeria, chaplain for inter-Religious Dialogue, member of liturgical commission to mention but a few.

Bishop Odogwu holds Doctorate degree on Biblical theology from the University of Jerusalem and Rome.
